Assemble your own Dynamo in the spirit of Michael Faraday (inventor of electrical generators) and develop an even greater understanding of electricity and magnetism.

Just squeeze the handle to generate a light beam - no batteries required! This unique flashlight is actually an electrical generator which uses a magnetic field (and your kinetic motion) to create an electric current. The special transparent casing allows you to see the inner workings of the Dynamo as it generates electricity. These are a must have for home, auto or the outdoors!

Features:

  • Great for Cars & Boats

  • Uses Kinetic Energy

  • Attach to string for easy hanging

  • Locking Mechanism

  • New Gel Colors!

  • Spare light bulb included

  • No Batteries Required

  • Recommended for ages 8 and up

  • Small sharp pieces can cut or get lodged in the throat of small children

Michael Faraday's Discovery

In 1831 Michael Faraday discovered how to transform mechanical energy into continuous electrical energy by moving electrical conductors through magnetic fields, thus laying the foundation for today's technological society. The Dynamo Flashlight is based on this discovery.

The first dynamo was comprised of a rotatable copper disc placed between the poles of a horseshoe magnet. One wire of the current indicator (galvanometer) was connected to an axle of the disc and the other to a sliding contact on the edge. When the disc was rotated, the needle of the galvanometer moved in one direction and remained in that position as long as the disc whirled.
